What is gel foam?

The gel foam was created through the inspiration of medical gel mattresses. The principle of gel mattresses is similar to that of a water bed, except that a viscous gel is used to fill it. These mattresses ensure optimal weight distribution and prevent bedsores, for example. Based on the numerous positive properties of gel, gel foam was created.

When producing gel foam, a part of gel is added to cold foam. Gel foam is a mixture of viscous and solid but flexible material, with gel making up a significantly smaller proportion. This means that the properties of the cold foam change and the end product is more adaptive, meaning it adapts better to shapes and offers significantly better properties than cold foam.

Gel foam is a relatively new material that is becoming increasingly popular in mattress manufacturing. The special properties are extremely high point elasticity, precise body adaptation, high pressure relief, pronounced resilience and good breathability. In summary, you can say that gel foam combines the positive properties of cold foam and visco foam. Compared to visco foam, gel foam gives better when you move at night and returns to its original shape more quickly. In addition, the gel foam does not react to the ambient and body temperature like visco foam, but is independent of temperature.

In addition to mattresses, toppers and toppers are also made from gel foam. The material is also ideal for allergy sufferers, as house dust mites cannot find a habitat in the gel foam.
